Jeff Cup Road Race - Women's open

The women open was an interesting race, as we did not even stop for the official start. When we made the left off of Rt. 20 we started to race. In the first part of the race the pace was not that high, but there were attacks and by the end the race pace was higher. Johanna was very good at getting to the frount of the group in the neutral roll out so I just followed her wheel on up. Throughout the race she was always up there looking very cool. My plan was to lay do some good attacks and I did....many times. By the end the pace was really high for the last 2K, and I had a hard time moving up, and find a wheel. Johanna and I were together near the finish. There will have to be an update on her placing; I managed 5th. Good job to all CRC members in this great race!
thanks for reading,
Rachel

I agree with Rachel's take on the women's open. I kept waiting for a break to stick, but none did. A pretty large group sprinted to the finish, and I just rolled in behind. My legs were pretty shot by then (kind of crampy - maybe not enough water), and I was worried about a crash finish. Rachel looked great out there. She had a number of really nice efforts and I think that if a couple more good climbers had worked with her I think she could have gotten away early on.
